After 25 years in senior roles in government service both overseas and in the U.K., and currently as a Senior Advisor to Boards of global businesses, Sarah will consider how and why intelligence has an important relevance in contributing to Board decision making and strategic planning. She will demystify some of the tropes of the intelligence world and share some cases to illustrate the power of intelligence.
A former senior British government official with more than 25 years of experience in national security and intelligence matters in the UK and overseas, Sarah assists companies, family offices and HNW clients on operational, reputational and investment risk matters worldwide. She brings significant expertise in conducting complex, multi-jurisdictional anti-bribery and corruption investigations, asset-tracing and recovery, and provides litigation support for international arbitration and disputes revolving around political, regulatory or integrity issues.
Over the past three decades, Sarah has served as a trusted adviser to Board-level clients on their strategies in the Middle East, Iran and Sub-Saharan Africa. She advises clients in the infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, financial services, energy, and technology sectors on entering or operating in high-risk emerging markets. Sarah also specialises in terrorist financing, piracy and maritime security issues and previously served as Lloyds of London’s senior adviser on piracy.
Prior to joining StoneTurn, Sarah was a Managing Director in the investigations and strategic intelligence practice of a global advisory firm. After leaving government service, Sarah held senior advisory roles in the business intelligence and risk management practices of several private professional services firms. She was previously Chairman, now Council member, of the Risk & Security Management Forum (RSMF) in the UK.
