Champagne Henriot Blanc de Blanc

In 1640, the Henriot family coming from Lorraine settles in Champagne and begins adding wine to their family activities.
After acquiring land to plant vines, the family gains knowledge about viticulture and becomes experts on their terroirs.

In 1808, Apolline, Nicolas Henriot’s widow takes over the domain and creates Maison Henriot. Her wines are sold all around Europe and especially in Royal Courts. In  1880, Marie Marguet marries Paul Henriot and brings with her some of the best parcels of Chardonnay from the  Côte des Blancs. Now it is the 8th generation with Etienne, Nicolas, Joseph, Gilles.

In line of Apolline's great-uncle, Canon Godinot, many members of the Henriot family, trained as agricultural engineers, have contributed to developing the expertise and strengthening the care given to the vines.
The Alliance Terroirs project is a continuity of Apolline’s founding principle, initiated in 2020 by Gilles de Larouzière Henriot, 8th generation of the family, and Alice Tétienne, Cellar Master of Maison Henriot.
This project is divided into three areas: knowledge of the Terroirs, adaptation of viticultural practices thanks to this knowledge and actions to to contribute to the sustainability of the Champagne region and to decide to convert to organic viticulture. Indeed, this certification aims at the use of exclusively natural products and requires an increased understanding of the vineyard as well as a strong presence in the vineyard. The House also sees this approach as an opportunity to reinforce the good working conditions of the people who work in the Henriot vineyard.
Organic viticulture encourages a strong study of the vine throughout its vegetative growth. Time is given to observation and precision guides the choices of intervention. This favours the realisation of one of the House's wishes: as much diversity of cultivation as of Terroirs. It is a viticulture that is demanding and requires time. It is also an important need for resources, both in the presence in the vineyard and in the actions that are carried out there.

The family of French billionaire luxury goods magnate Francois Pinault has announced a merger with Maisons & Domaines Henriot in a move that will unite brands such as Château Latour and Champagne Henriot under one group.

This new deal will bring several leading wine brands together under the group name, Artémis Domaines. Francois Pinault will own three-quarters of the group, it is reported, while the remaining portion will be owned by the Henriot families. Additional brands that will now become part of Artémis Domaines include Clos de Tart and Domaine d’Eugenie from the Pinault family and Bouchard Pere & Fils and William Fevre from Henriot.

Expectations are high for the 2022 vintage in Champagne, with high volumes of healthy grapes and musts having potential alcohol on average better than 10% by volume being reported.
